SOA at Eclipse
Eclipse already provides service developers with key SOA components in the form of Eclipse Swordfish (SOA Runtime Framework) and STP (SOA Tooling Platform). What they had lacked until very recently however, was a self-contained integrated SOA platform to base development of service-oriented applications upon. Now, that’s all changed thanks to the Eclipse Foundation’s “Eclipse SOA” initiative and the release of its Eclipse SOA Platform on 25 September, 2009. Major project goals include turning Swordfish into a full ESB, the development of a service registry / repository and the integration of orchestration engines and data integration tools.
