Fuelled by a strong demand in downloads and growth in excess of 100% in annual subscription fees, SOPERA is expanding its Marketing, Sales, and Development operations in Europe and North America to address the growing global demand for its Open Source Integration Solutions. Core to its expansion strategy is not only the continuation of  providing global enterprise support services for SOPERA’s ASF suite, but also now the offering of enterprise support for the market-leading Apache projects ServiceMix, Camel, CXF and ActiveMQ, which have been core components of the ASF solutions since its inception.

SOPERA’s ASF suite provides comprehensive solutions for application integration business process management, messaging and SOA governance. Based on leading open source projects of Eclipse and Apache, SOPERA has developed an open vendor neutral integration platform that eliminates software license fees, but ensures professional enterprise customer support and product enhancements via an annual subscription model. Many of our large enterprise customers, such as DHL, have reduced their software integration costs by up to 70% compared to traditional software offerings.

For our US and UK operations we want to fill the following positions:
Architects for Apache Projects ServiceMix, CXF, ActiveMQ and Camel

The Apache  Architects will be responsible for the overall evolution of products developed on top of Apache ServiceMix, CXF, ActiveMQ and Camel. These persons must have intimate knowledge of the internals of Apache software products and be recognized leaders of the Apache  projects. These persons will also play a critical technical liaison role with the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) and have a track record of working with the ASF to create and promote projects. The ideal candidate will have 10 years experience working on and using middleware and integration (MOM, ESB, and OSGi) products. The candidates must have a proven track record of technical leadership and extensive experience in creating and leading Apache open source projects.   Candidate must also possess the skills to represent the company’s products and technical vision with customers, analysts, investors, and at industry conferences and events.

Minimum Job Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 10 working on MOM technologies and developing in open source communities
  • Extensive knowledge of the internals of Apache ServiceMix, ActiveMQ, Camel, CXF and Felix Karaf
    • Proven track record of being a technical thought leader in these Apache Projects
    • Must be a committer to  ServiceMix, ActiveMQ, CXF or Camel  (PMC member or Chair preferable)
    • Should have published articles or books on one of these projects
    • Should be current and participating in the evolution of OSGi and the Apache Felix Karaf project
    • Must have spoken on these projects at conferences and company sponsored webinars in the past
  • Provide thought leadership publicly at Apache and at industry conferences and forums to promote the use of core projects
  • Engage in viral marketing activities to promote the company its products, and company vision, by being a public blogger, supporting marketing events, and being involved with broad open source community activities
